What You Will Do:

The Quality Engineering Manager provides strategic leadership to ensure quality systems, personnel, and processes consistently deliver products that meet or exceed customer expectations. Reporting to the Head of Quality, this role oversees quality engineering activities across the full value stream—from design and development through production and supplier management. Ensuring compliance with AS9100D and other applicable aerospace standards, supporting both commercial and defense programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the Quality Engineering team supporting product development, production, and supplier quality.
  • Ensure all quality systems and documentation comply with AS9100D, FAA, DoD, C.A.S.E, and SMS requirements.
  • Establish departmental goals and metrics aligned with organizational strategic objectives; monitor and report performance.
  • Champion the company’s Quality Policy: “Do it right the first time — measure, control, improve.”
  • Drive adoption of root cause analysis tools (e.g., Ishikawa, 5 Whys, 8Ds) and statistical methods (e.g., SPC, sampling plans, Gage R&R, DOE).
  • Continuously improve the effectiveness of the corrective and preventive action (CAPA) system through QE-led implementation.
  • Maintain and improve the Material Review Board (MRB) process; reduce overall rejection rates.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and repair station teams to reduce warranty costs and improve product reliability.
  • Interface with customers and suppliers to resolve escalated quality issues and ensure proper flow down of requirements.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in problem-solving, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and present quality performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other related discipline

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive experience working in a Quality capacity within aerospace industry preferred
  • Greater than 3 years’ experience working in a Quality leadership capacity preferred
  • ASQ certifications (CQE, CMQ/OE, etc.) a plus

Preferred Specialized Skills and Abilities

  • Proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
  • Skilled in metric development and data-driven improvement strategies.
  • Proficient in structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, Six Sigma, Learning Tree).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; skilled in flowcharting and data visualization.
  • Experienced in SPC tool selection and application.
  • Strong presentation skills using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Decisive and adaptable in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Familiar with conflict resolution and escalation protocols.
  • Capable of making independent product conformance decisions, with appropriate escalation.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including ITAR, CMMC, and export control preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent use of personal computers, database and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and computer printers.
  • Frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch or feel equipment, materials, and computer.
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move inside the office
  • Frequent close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Salary Range:

Please note the typical hiring range is $124,650 - $207,750 annually. Job offers within the range are based on significant job qualifications and pay equity.
