What You Will Do:

This role will have the primary responsibility of managing a team within, or in support of a Business Unit focused on integrated design, development, and testing of aerospace displays, airborne computing systems, avionics and optical products across the Korry product line. Role dependent, the role may require expertise in mechanical, electrical, systems, software, test or other engineering functions. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Providing support to existing and future programs, including new business, proposal development, and R&D activities.
  • Ensure that customer requirements, milestones and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Foster an environment of technology reuse and improvement.
  • Accountable for the technical, cost and schedule performance of development and sustaining programs
  • Increase productivity by reducing engineering cost.
  • Collaborate with other business units in product development, productivity goals and production support.
  • Manage stage gate based New Product Development (NPD) process that provides clarity of; requirements, deliverables and expectations, and includes best practices to achieve cost effective design for manufacture solutions.
  • Implements rigorous project reviews, risk assessments (project, product, and manufacturing process), and contingency plans to minimize project risks as part of the NPD process.
  • Responsible for executing product designs that meet the technical product vision, architecture, and the required technical content to meet customer expectations, contractual requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Develop and expand our product and technology knowledge base to improve our design execution efficiency.
  • Lead the team by flowing down the business unit strategy and driving the technology and product roadmaps.
  • Manage the engineers to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for systems.
  • Understand product verification methods, reliability requirements, and manufacturing testing needs; then through collaboration with the development staff, be able to iterate system specifications with necessary detail to assure robust product performance.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for engineering functional-specific issues, processes and regulations.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Build a strong and capable technical team that strives for a consistent approach to product design and the technological aspects of engineering development.
  • Performs special projects/tasks as assigned.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience.
  • 10 years’ experience in Engineering Functional Domain including sophisticated system development projects within the Aerospace, automotive or similar safety critical industry.
  • 5 years’ experience and successful track record leading teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge and strong fundamentals in systems, software, electrical, mechanical, or other engineering approaches.
  • Experience in managing, leading and driving development teams through the products life cycle.
  • Demonstrated experience with export laws and regulations, including ITAR.
  • Preferably experience with aircraft reliability, system safety, and certification experience.
  • Experience with Industry standards: TSOs, ARP-4754A, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-297 and DO-326

Salary Range:

Please note the typical hiring range is $165,000 - $215,000 annually. Job offers within the range are based on significant job qualifications and pay equity.
