 What You Will Do: 

The Tool and Die Maker in this position plays a vital role in our manufacturing operation. You will work closely with punch press operators and assembly line technicians to create and/or maintain their tools, and to produce quality parts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain die condition to produce 100% good parts.
  • Procure and maintain inventory of adequate spare parts to insure uninterrupted production.
  • Modify or repair existing tooling and progressive dies.
  • Die conversions, for example punch or die section change for multiple part configurations.
  • Examine previously used dies and tooling components and recommend design modifications regarding construction and functionality for improvement.
  • Apply Root Cause Analysis to tooling breakages and premature failure; analyze the problems and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Perform precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions; recommend revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered; and solve problems relating to unusual materials.
  • When required, verify conformance of machined and stamped parts to specifications using calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, height gauges, etc.
  • Work with outside suppliers and vendors.

Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • 7+ years or more of experience in shop environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; advanced training/certification training in tool and die preferred.
  • CAD/Cam experience a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of metal characteristics and properties including heat-treating
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing.
  • Strong orientation towards quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to prototype parts
  • A working knowledge of press room equipment and machinery.
  • A working proficiency using conventional and CNC tool-room equipment and machinery.
  • A working proficiency of Sinker EDM, Wire EDM, Hole Popper EDM.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and use blueprints.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Frequent use of personal computers, database and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and computer printers.
  • Frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch or feel equipment, materials, and computer.
  • Frequent close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally use of steps, or ladder.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Seldom to occasionally position self to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Salary Range
Please note the typical hiring range is $39.00 - $46.00 hourly. Job offers within the range are based on significant job qualifications and pay equity.
