What You Will Do:

The Production Lead role is a career-level Assembly position which focuses on supporting directives from the Management and Planning Teams to support on-time delivery, productivity improvements and day-to-day production support to meet our rate expectations for the different lines that they oversee.  This role introduces many of the fundamentals required for the Production Manager position.

Successful candidates are detail oriented and able to leverage their experience in aerospace manufacturing with the soft skills that are required to support and develop direct reports.

This position is for the Fabrication Paint line and the Fabrication Insert station. The lead will have dispatch lists detailing the priority orders throughout the facility and will have to flex the team between the two work centers to address internal and external customer demand.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates production team/(s) to meet on-time delivery and daily production rate metrics.
  • Identifying productivity improvement opportunities and coordinating with Manufacturing Engineer team for implementation.
  • Understanding the strategic and tactical planning set forth by department leadership and taking action to meet those plans.
  • In addition, being able to communicate these plans clearly and concisely to the production team, as it pertains to their individual roles.
  • Ownership of the first-pass yield and hourly rate on the production lines.
  • Facilitate training opportunities using written, visual, and mixed media training materials.
  • Managing and updating the cross-training matrix to support training initiatives.
  • Regular public speaking in team- and leadership-meeting settings.
  • Practicing Lean Manufacturing principles daily.
  • Performs special projects/tasks as assigned

Preferred Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

 Preferred Experience

  • 3 years’ production experience in Aerospace manufacturing.
  • Prior leadership experience (managing more than 10 direct reports) is preferred.
  • HVLP Paint Gun experience a plus!

 Preferred Specialized Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently to meet goals.
  • Able to perform root cause analysis when production rates are not met and manage staff to mitigate production rate shortfalls.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent use of personal computers, database and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and computer printers.
  • Frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch or feel equipment, materials, and computer.
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move inside the office.
  • Frequent close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Lift, carry, push and or pull 1-30 lbs as needed
  • Sit, stand and walk for 1 – 10 hours per day
  • Wear appropriate PPE (respirators, safety glasses, gloves, smocks)
  • Work in a fast-paced industrial environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes, and appropriate protective equipment as required
