Are you a highly analytical and experienced accounting professional with a passion for precision and a solid understanding of manufacturing complexities? We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Controller to join our dynamic finance team in the aerospace manufacturing sector. In this pivotal role, you will support the Controller in driving financial excellence, ensuring robust reporting, and maintaining stringent compliance within a fast-paced and innovative environment.

What you will do:

The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in our organization's financial health, contributing significantly to the oversight of financial operations, accurate reporting, and adherence to regulatory requirements. You will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our financial data, optimizing processes, and providing key insights to support strategic decision-making in the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on manufacturing cost accounting, inventory valuation, and project profitability.
    • Assist in analyzing financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement specific to aerospace production cycles.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:
    • Manage and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records, especially in areas like inventory management, fixed assets, and revenue recognition relevant to long-cycle contracts.
    • Ensure strict adherence to GAAP, IFRS (if applicable), and other relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements pertinent to the aerospace industry.
    • Support the implementation and monitoring of compliance with government contracts and industry-specific regulations.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting Support:
    • Assist in the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting, collaborating with operational teams to develop realistic and effective financial plans for manufacturing operations.
    • Monitor budget versus actual performance, providing insights and explanations for variances.
  • Audit Management:
    • Serve as a key point of contact and support for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
    • Ensure all audit requests are fulfilled accurately and efficiently.
  • Accounting System & Process Improvement:
    • Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting systems, processes, and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data integrity, particularly within an ERP environment common in manufacturing.
    • Leverage technology to streamline financial operations.
  • Team Development:
    • Mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with various departments, including production, engineering, procurement, and sales, to provide financial insights and support operational goals.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. A Master's degree in Accounting/Finance or a CPA/CMA certification is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a similar senior accounting or assistant controller role.
  • Demonstrated experience within the Aerospace Manufacturing industry is highly preferred, with a strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory, and project accounting in a production environment.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to dissect complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Superior communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and external partners.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in enterprise-level accounting software/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Plex, Epicor) is essential. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling) required.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ethical compass and commitment to financial integrity.

Salary Range:

  • Please note the typical hiring range is $115,000- $131,500 annually. Job offers within the range are based on significant job qualifications and pay equity.
